The xbox 360 came out Nov. 2005, and the playstation 3 came out Nov. 2006.
In 2009, the PS3 Slim came out and was engineered smaller in size, around 50%.
In 2010, the x360 slim came out and is engineered about 25% smaller?
The PS3 slim hands-down is the better redesign machine, inside and out.
The x360 had 5 years to redesign and the ps3 only had 3 years.
Imagine if the PS3 slim had come out in 2010!! Most likely sony did a PS3 slim for marketing and sales, otherwise we could have had a much sleeker PS3 slim in 2010/2011.
If you look at the PS2 launched in 1999/2000, and the PS2 slimline hit in 2004 and was amazingly small. That is what good engineering and 4 or 5 years will do for a console!
I would conclude that microsoft's engineering of the original x360 was bad, (red rings) and even the redesign which combines the CPU&GPU, the whole thing still didn't shrink much. (although, some PS3s are doing YLOD) What is even more funny is that the new x360 slim has a security to turn itself off to keep itself from overheating..... hilarious! I thought the new engineering was supposed to take care of the problem! Obviously not! = )
Unless they make a white x360 slim, I'm sticking with my Falcon/Jasper/whatever x360.
I just got a new 2nd gen PS3 slim, model 2101a, (replacing my launch 60gb) which uses a 40/45nm cpu & gpu. I'll freely install a 750gb HDD which dwarfs the 250gb HDD my x360 is currently limited to. cheers!
